Our world today has put pre-teens and teens in a very difficult situation physically, emotionally, and especially spiritually. Peer pressure, strife at home, and poor self opinion have contributed to Jr High and High School students making decisions that they may later regret.
It has been our vision at Five Valleys to build a strong campus ministry that can teach, mentor, and provide spiritual and practical help to the youth in the our church. All of the students receive mentoring and guidance from older Christians who are helping them build strong values, navigate their own personal lives, and to learn how to use God’s word to guide them. These are dedicated, energetic young people who strive to consistently grow in their relationship with God. Being a little older in life, and personally understanding the pressures that youth face, they see the need to be a great example and be available for them as they go through this very challenging time in their life.
We have been maturing our campus ministry in hopes of them being able to serve the youth in our church. We have been able to see our original vision come true as the college students teach a Wednesday night class at 7:00 at the church building. Spiritual and practical topics, along with discussion have been the focus. We are also planning campus led activities, personal mentoring and especially lots of fun filled friendship! We look forward to seeing what God has in store for our youth ministry!
